It was a welcome opportunity to enjoy good food, companionship and entertainment as well as to share memories of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Sutherland Care Forum held a free lunch, which was open to anyone to attend, at Pittentrail Hall, Rogart, last Friday.

More than 50 people from Rogart and beyond sat down to a choice of tomato or lentil soup, shepherd’s pie, and vegetable bake followed by peaches and cream.

Tea and biscuits were served to the accompaniment of music from local musicians including Monica Maclean.

There was also the opportunity to buy raffle tickets with a hamper the top prize.

Care Forum chairwoman Caroline Cousins told the assembled diners: “People might have wondered why we went ahead with this following the death of the Queen, but I think that it is good that we have all come together and we can share reminiscences and memories."

Funding for the lunch came from the Co-op Community Fund and those who attended were able to take home three items of tinned food, donated by Cfine.
