PICTURES: Firefighters called to blaze in car outside Tain's Home Bargains store

Firefighters were called to extinguish a blaze in a car in Tain just before noon today.

As these dramatic pictures from social media show, the unoccupied vehicle was engulfed in flames and completely destroyed.

The car appeared to have been hastily abandoned by the driver beside double yellow lines.

The alarm was raised by a member of the public at around 11:50 am.

Firefighters attended with one fire appliance from Invergordon, using breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to quickly extinguish the fire.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman confirmed that nobody was injured in the incident.
