The Queen’s Baton Relay stopped off at Inverness Tennis and Squash Club (ITSC), marking the beginning of the Scottish leg of its route.

The baton was presented to local squash player Greg Lobban by Commonwealth Games Scotland chairman Paul Bush.

Inverness Gymnastics Club and Disability Sport Highland were also in attendance and there were performances from Melanie McKay School of Dancing.

Club manager Ailsa Polworth described the event on Saturday as brilliant.

“It went very well,” she added. “Certainly, Team Scotland were impressed with what we do at the club and the reception on the day.

“It meant a lot to the club to be selected for it as there were only 17 chosen. It was a huge honour and it was important that it came here first.

“We are a small community club so it really meant a lot. Everybody just enjoyed being part of such a big thing and it made us feel like part of a big picture.”
