Visitors to the Bradbury Centre were treated to a Christmas party 'to remember' on Wednesday, December 21.

The Bonar Bridge-based centre held their first party of its kind since 2019 after being forced to put the get-together on hold due to the pandemic.

A large group were in attendance, with members traveling from Tain, Dornoch, Embo, Rogart, Rosehall, Lairg and, Bonar Bridge.

Bradbury Centre manager Lorraine Askew said: "Christmas 2020 was so different as we had to deliver the Christmas lunch to their homes along with the extra members of the community who we were sending free meals to. It was a mammoth task but we enjoyed being able to support our community and clients at a very difficult time.

"The next year we had parties on different days so that we could keep the numbers manageable and socially distanced."

This year, the centre’s two accessible buses, a taxi and family members all helped to transport members into the centre to enjoy the three course lunch, which was provided free of charge.

The meal started with Scotch broth, followed by turkey with all the trimmings and cheesecakes donated by The Pier in Lairg and Platform 1864 in Tain.

The morning started with a quiz, and fun games before lunch was served at 12.30. Those in attendance were then entertained by Evergreen band who offered their time free of charge, as they do over the year.

This was followed by the free-entry raffle with a number of fruit and veg hampers (donated by the board of directors) up for grabs. There was also a prize bingo game played.

Everyone who attended received a gift of £10 to help during the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.
