This stunning photograph was taken last night by Highland photographer Ewen Pryde.

He was driving north after attending his daughter’s gymnastics competition in Alness when he captured the image.

An atmospheric shot by Ewen Pryde, with the moon illuminating the causeway at the Mound and the Duke of Sutherland's statue on the top of Ben Bhraggie.

He said: "The moon was lighting the causeway at the Mound and the infamous statue of the Duke of Sutherland on the top of Ben Bhraggie. I just had to stop and capture it.”

Ewen added: “The causeway from where the picture was taken was designed by the renowned Scottish engineer Thomas Telford in 1815. Amongst other things he also designed the Caledonian Canal."
