POPULAR Stornoway band Peat & Diesel will perform at the Eastgate Shopping Centre in Inverness on Sunday.

The band's appearance will be among a packed weekend programme of events in the centre which will also include a traditional Chinese lion dance on Saturday to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

Peat & Diesel, a three-piece band whose songs often make reference to crofting activities on the isles, won the best live act award at last month's MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards.

The band will appear in-store at HMV to perform and sign copies of their new album, Light my Byre, from 3pm.

Paul Kennedy, HMV store manager, is looking forward to the band's appearance.

"We've sold lots of copies of their debut album, Uptown Fank, and it's great we've got them in-store to perform their new album Light My Byre which is out tomorrow," he said.
