Latterly Mrs Moodie has been the community development manager in charge of fundraising for the Dornoch Hub.

Cllr Gale told a meeting of Golspie Community Council on Monday: "Catherine gave a tremendous interview and starts with us on November 15.

"She has done a lot of work for a number of groups and is highly effective and I am looking forward to working with her."

Mrs Moodie will oversee and consolidate a wide range of Go Golspie projects.

The group recently acquired Fountain Road Hall from the Church of Scotland and has also taken over the dilapidated YMCA building on the Main Street.

Ongoing is an ambitious £300,000 breakwater scheme to combat coastal flooding.
