ScotRail has warned of disruption.

RAIL passengers on the Inverness-Aberdeen line were experiencing disruption and cancellations on Thursday morning after "an obstruction" was found on the track.

ScotRail has confirmed that the 9.46am Inverness-Elgin train, and 10.51am Elgin-Inverness service have both been cancelled.

The rail operator warned that disruption was expected to last until at least 10.15am.

"We have received reports of an obstruction on the track affecting services in the Nairn area," said a spokesman. "Our staff are on site carrying out safety checks. Once we have more information from our staff on the ground, well provide you with an update."
