The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the Highlands has risen to 12 in the last 24 hours.

The number of positive cases identified in the region has increased by four, following the latest update provided by the Scottish Government.

The number of Scottish people testing positive for Covid-19 rose to by 83 cases to 499 and there have been 14 deaths after contracting the disease – four more than yesterday.

There are now 24 confirmed cases in neighbouring Grampian, up from 23 yesterday.

The worst affected health board areas in Scotland are Greater Glasgow & Clyde (152) and Lothian (59).

A total of 9364 tests for Covid-19 have been carried out in Scotland.
