Over 70 people turned out for a free Scottish themed 'Soup and Sweet' afternoon on Saturday, to raise funds for a replacement roof on Kinlochbervie village hall.
The free-to-all event was held inside the hall, with servings of broth, cranachan and clootie dumplings on offer as attendees enjoyed a 'Rabbie Burns' themed afternoon.
This was complemented by some tea to wash down some 'excellent' Scottish Tablet expertly prepared by Sylvia MacKay of the Old School Restaurant.
Those in attendance were also treated to some entertainment, with a Scottish country dancing instructor encouraging people onto the dance floor, followed by a poetry reading, capably recited by former English teacher, Susan Black.
The day was heralded a big success by the committee, who raised over £300.
Kinlochbervie Village Hall booking officer, Joyce Armour said: "Once every few months we try to use the beautiful facilities of the village hall. We are very proud that locals have fought hard to make it one of the best village halls in the north – but we need a new roof!
"We thought for something a wee bit different we would hold a Scottish themed Soup and Sweet event, and as locals, very generously, tend to give donations at these events, we decided to make this a free event.
"The hall committee wish to thank everyone for their tremendous support in attending and making donations."
