FIVE days have now passed since the Highlands recorded their most recent positive test for Covid-19.

The region's total number of confirmed coronavirus cases remained static at 377 when the Scottish Government posted its daily update this afternoon.

There were 11 new positive tests recorded across the whole of Scotland in the past 24 hours.

And, sadly, there was one new death among those who have tested positive – the first such fatality in a week.

The death toll among those who tested positive now stands at 2491.

Elsewhere in the north of Scotland, there were no new positive tests for coronavirus in any of the region's other health board areas. The number of confirmed positive tests in NHS Grampian (1432), Shetland (54), Orkney (nine), Eileanan Siar (seven) and NHS Tayside (1775) all remained unchanged for the second day in a row.

Nationally there have been 18,384 positive tests for Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic.

The number of people in hospital with confirmed Covid-19 fell to 320 last night, down nine on the same point 24 hours earlier. Three of the 320 patients were in intensive care – up one.
