NO fresh positive tests for Covid-19 were recorded in the Highlands in the past 24 hours.

NHS Highlands number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus remained static at 378 when the Scottish Government published its latest daily update at 2pm.

It came against a backdrop of only seven new positive tests across Scotland as a whole - a rate that was lower than recent 24-hour figures.

There have now been 18,452 positive tests for Covid-19 across Scotland since the beginning of the pandemic.

Of those, some 2491 people have subsequently died. However, there were no new fatalities in the past 24 hours.

Elsewhere in the north of Scotland there were no fresh positive tests for the virus in Orkney, Shetland, Eileanan Siar, NHS Grampian or NHS Tayside, which all reported the same number of confirmed cases as they did 24 hours earlier.

Nationally, there were 299 people being treated in hospital for confirmed Covid-19 last night – down three from the same point the previous day.

Three of those 299 cases were receiving treatment in intensive care. A further seven people with suspected Covid-19 were also in intensive care last night.
