NHS Highland is advertising for a social care assistant and a cook to work at a north coast care home which is experiencing a staffing crisis.

Sutherland area health manager Kate Kenmure revealed a fortnight ago that Caladh Sona Care Unit was on the brink of being closed temporarily due to "acute" staffing issues.

Staff are needed at Caladh Sona Community Care Unit, Talmine.

She told Tongue Community Council that the home at Talmine should have a 19-strong team of care workers but that seven posts were vacant.

And now jobs are being advertised on NHS Scotland's recruitment website (jobs.scot.nhs.uk) for a personal and social care worker and also a cook.

The care post is being advertised as a Band 2 with a salary from £21,814 to £23,820 while the catering role commands a similar salary.

But, while the kitchen based role is full-time and permanent, the caring post is a staff bank position and is described as on an "as and when required basis".

The deadline for applications for the catering post is Sunday, February 5; while applications for the care post must be in by Sunday, February 12.

Anyone interested in either post, can find out more by making an informal enquiry to Caladh Sona manager Gemma MacKenzie on 01847 601258 or by email:gemma.mackenzie@nhs.scot
