A NEW wellbeing website aimed specifically at Sutherland residents was launched today.

The website has been created by the Sutherland Adaptive and Collaborative Communities (SACC) Project team.

It aims to connect the county's residents with services, resources and activities promoting positive mental health and strengthening emotional and physical wellbeing.

The new wellbeing website was launched today.

SACC project coordinator Gail Prince said: "This central point will be a valuable tool for Sutherland residents to access details on local, regional and national support."

The website has a map which shows the location of community groups offering mental health and wellbeing support. It also has a database of local, regional and national services and resources.

And there is a calendar on which will be marked wellbeing activities being held throughout Sutherland.

The Sutherland Adaptive and Collaborative Project has been financed by the Aspiring Communities Fund.

The overall aim of the project is to support Sutherland's most deprived and fragile communities to develop and deliver long-term solutions that address local priorities and needs.

The project is being led by Kyle of Sutherland Development Trust (KoSDT) and the project team is working with Sutherland Community Planning Partnership.

Partnership chairman Chief Inspector Jamie Wilson said the group welcomed the introduction of the website.

It has also been endorsed by Dornoch Cathedral minister Susan Brown, who said: "This year has been one like no other. Everyone's physical, mental and emotional wellbeing has been stretched to its limits – and in some instances beyond.

"As we emerge from these times, it is so important people are helped to find ways to deal with all we have been through so that we can face a positive and healthy future. This initiative is one important stepping stone towards that direction."

The SACC project team is asking any community groups who deliver a service supporting mental or physical wellbeing, to contact them at: sutherlandwellbeing@gmail.com
