New room for bereaved parents launches at Raigmore Hospital's maternity unit
A new suite to support families at the critical time of baby loss was officially opened today (February 16) in Inverness.
The new Heather Suite, located within the maternity unit at Raigmore Hospital was funded by a group of dedicated local fundraisers through baby loss charity SiMBA.
After a long delay in completing the installation and refurbishment of the room due to the Covid pandemic, SiMBA and the team at Raigmore have finally been able to implement the project.
A Raigmore Hospital spokesperson said: “After many years of determination, we are delighted with the new improved rooms, making it a nicer environment to enable parents coping with the loss of their baby. The new refurbished bereavement room is designed to give them the space and privacy required at such a difficult time."
"The team at the Raigmore are delighted with how the room looks and feels and are immensely proud of what we has been achieved."
Vanessa Rhazali, head of communications and fundraising at SiMBA added: “It is all thanks to the tireless support of a group of committed local fundraisers. It has been a long wait, but we could not have made this project possible without their support and for that we are incredibly grateful. We hope the new Heather Suite will be an invaluable and much needed resource within the Inverness area for those who need it most."
