New police inspector appointed for Sutherland
A new inspector has been appointed to oversee local policing teams in Easter Ross and Sutherland.
Inspector James Rice took up the post this week, covering a large beat taking in the towns of the Cromarty Firth and east Sutherland coast, as well as the large rural interior of the county.
He moves to the role having most recently worked in Inverness in a role which included overseeing the city centre policing team and community beats officers based throughout the city.
Inspector Rice has 25 years police service in various roles, including CID and response policing. He has served in Dingwall, Shetland and Inverness.
He said: "I am delighted to have had the opportunity to take this role covering Easter Ross and Sutherland
"We have dedicated policing teams serving in towns and rural communities throughout the area.
"I look forward to building on their hard work while working with local communities and partners to ensure this remains a safe place to live, work and visit."
