Track Of The Week: Damon Albarn - Everyday Robots

Damon Albarn's got a solo album – Everyday Robots - coming out. This might sound a little redundant, considering the amount of his own work that went into Gorillaz, but then that “band” was very much a cartoon shield that allowed Damon to get properly creative. This is therefore very much the interesting prospect – Albarn's putting his head above the parapet for this release.

The titular single has been revealed on YouTube and, well – it's rather magnificent. Haunting and ethereal, the song is very reminiscent of Plastic Beach-era Gorillaz – yet the lyrics seem more personal, more introspective than his work there. It's utterly compelling to listen to and, combined with the rather unusual, yet thematically brilliant video, is something that just has to be listened to.
