AFTER choosing to announce the title of his new book – Saints Of The Shadow Bible – at Inverness Waterstones back in April, Ian Rankin returns for a signing session on Saturday.

From 11am, the writer will be in the shop to sign copies of the latest thriller that – for the second time – brings together his two heroes, John Rebus and Malcolm Fox.

Rebus is back on the Scottish police force, with a big demotion – and an even bigger chip on his shoulder.

He and his team from 30 years ago are suspected of corruption. Known as “the Saints”, they swore mutual loyalty on something called “the Shadow Bible”.

But with Fox as the investigating officer – who really are the saints and who the sinners?
