A DINGWALL apprentice welder found in possession of ecstasy was warned by a Sheriff the conviction could damage his career.

Callum Shaw (19) from Firth View, Dingwall, appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court today (Thursday) when he admitted possession of an ecstasy tablet in Academy Street in Inverness, on November 2,

His solicitor Aileen Macinnes said Shaw was an apprentice welder and a first offender. But he was aware of the impact a conviction of this nature could have on future employment prospects if he was seeking work abroad.

Sheriff Andrew Berry fined Shaw £200 and told him: "This is a classic case of what may be seen as a socially acceptable recreational drug but it could have consequences for your future employment."
