Far North MSP Gail Ross has hit out at a social media user who accused her of scoring a “political point” over a lack of personal protective equipment (PPE) for front line workers.
Ms Ross, Holyrood representative for Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross, said: “To suggest I am or would ever exploit the safety of another human being to make political gain is unconscionable, dangerous and wrong."
She said a nurse had brought the post to her attention. She did not normally respond to social media posts but felt compelled to in this instance.
She said: “I have been working with politicians from across all parties and none over the past few weeks to try and find resolutions to issues of PPE in workplaces.
"I have been working with Dounreay to ensure that their stores of PPE have been going to the places that need it most and have stayed local.
"I have had conversations with NHS workers to see where the issues lie and to reassure that I am here to help.
"I have contacted both NHSH and the Scottish Government on several occasions.
Jamie Stone MP and I have written jointly to the Health Secretary.
Mrs Ross added: "I absolutely understand that people are scared and worried about the virus and the restrictions - this is a worrying time for everyone, but blame and accusations are unhelpful at a time when we should all be pulling together.
She asked anyone worried about a lack of PPE, to email
