MP for Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross, Jamie Stone, has set up a focus group with his constituents after they "attended" a virtual lobby for climate change.
The lobby was organised by the Climate Coalition, with 20 local residents signing up to speak to Mr Stone.
They included constituents from Dornoch, Bettyhill, Thurso, Dunbeath, Alness, and Bettyhill.
With the agreement of all those who attended, Mr Stone created a plan of action for both local and national issues, such as biodiversity in farming and increasing the longevity of tech products.
Together the group has now written to the Prime Minister with the following demands:
Use the recovery from this pandemic as an opportunity to invest in new, greener jobs and industries.
Include strong environmental protections in every bailout of polluting industries, such as the aviation industry.
Increase grants for climate policies and investment into green energy for the Global South
The group will meet again with their MP in three weeks to discuss the next steps.
Speaking after the Virtual Lobby, Mr Stone said: “I honestly had so much fun engaging with people from all over the Far North about their environmental concerns. We spoke about everything from biodiversity in farming to green transport.
"I am no fan of a quick publicity stunt and that being the end of it. That's why I have set up this focus group, so we can continue to fight for climate change together."
