The book called Smile With Your Eyes was a project headed by Dr Grant Franklin and Dr Becky Acquah who both work at Raigmore Hospital.

So far, they have raised more than £7000 through sales of the book which will go towards the vaccine effort.

The pair spent much of the past 18 months on the Covid wards and came up with the idea of a book to help showcase the talent of their wonderful co-workers and to raise money for vaccine distribution and provision.

NHS staff from across NHS Highland have contributed poetry, prose and pictures to the 52-page book, which are moving examples of their lives with covid.

Dr Acquah and Dr Grant said: "Creating this book has given us a chance to collate excellent pieces of artwork and writing from a variety of staff from NHS Highland, bringing us together as a team during these challenging times. The aim was to raise money to aid the Global vaccine effort led by UNICEF but it has also given staff a creative outlet for the extraordinary stresses of the pandemic.

"Readers can expect a combination of humour and insight into our pandemic response both within healthcare and in the community. There are examples of oil paintings, photos, poems, and short stories that cover a variety of topics and are likely to make the reader laugh and cry. Each £10 donation will provide up to 8 vaccines for vulnerable people and frontline healthcare workers in resource poor settings."
