Motorcyclist from Coventry dies after crash on A87 in the Highlands
A 73-year-old injured in a crash in the Glen Shiel area has died.
Police made the announcement as they renewed an appeal for information about the crash which occurred on the A87 at about 5.20pm on Friday.
The incident involved a Triumph Motorcycle and a Fiat motorhome on the A87 at Glen Shiel.
The 73-year-old male motorcyclist was airlifted to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.
Previously described as suffering life-threatening injuries police it has now been confirmed that he sadly died yesterday.
He has been named as Alexander McCracken, known as Sandy. He was from Coventry.
The occupants of the motorhome were checked over by the Scottish Ambulance Service at the scene and did not require hospital treatment.
The road was closed for investigation work in the aftermath of the crash and re-opened at around 3am on Saturday.
Sergeant Neil MacDonald said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Alexander at this difficult time and we ask that their privacy is respected.
“Our enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash and who hasn’t already spoken to us to get in touch.
“I would also ask that anyone who has dash-cam footage which may assist contact us."
