More than 50 local youngsters turned out on Saturday at Muirfield football field, Brora, to enjoy an active and sociable morning of fooball and games.

Volunteers from Brora Wanderers Football Club, Brora Rangers Mini Kickers and the Skittleball group led two hours of activities which ended in a kids versus coaches match, with the kids giving the coaches a run for their money.

The event was organised by Brora Development Trust in conjunction with volunteers from football groups in the village.

It was held to mark the installation of new goalposts at the field, which is located in the middle of a residential area.

Funding for the new goalposts came from the European Social Fund and the Scottish Government, and the trust worked closely with Highland Council’s amenity services department to have them installed.

Trust development officer Sarah Morrison thanked everyone who had contributed to make the event a huge success.

Volunteers helped white line the field and made sure that the nets were set correctly in addition to running the activities.

The children were treated to lunch bags and Linda's Cafe provided sandwiches and bacon rolls.
