Missing girl (11) found after extensive search in north-west Sutherland

A missing 11-year-old girl has been found after a massive land and sea search in Sutherland.

Stornoway coastguard sent teams from Melness, Durness, Lochinver, Achiltibuie, Ullapool and Kinlochbervie to search on land after the alarm was raised at 5.01pm on Monday.

The search was concentrated in the Lochinver area.

Lochinver RNLI lifeboat was also launched to carry out a shoreline search.

However, at 6.40pm police notified the teams the girl had been found safe and well.
