A MISSING man who was thought to be somewhere in the Highlands or Islands has been traced "safe and well" in the region, police have announced.

Paul Cairney (59), from Bannockburn in the central belt, disappeared from his home in the town on Wednesday, July 15.

Police in the Forth Valley Division appealed for information when concerns were raised, and said they thought Mr Boyle – who is a keen walker and camper – might have travelled to the Highlands to pursue his hobby of visiting and photographing bothies.

Taking to Facebook this morning, officers in the Highlands and Islands Division confirmed that he has now been traced safe and well somewhere in the Highlands and Islands.

"Thank you to those who shared our previous appeals for information," added the spokesman.
