MFR has announced a refreshed weekday schedule with a new breakfast show hosted by Jodie McCluskey.

Jodie, who currently hosts mid-mornings on the station, will be stepping into the new role from Monday, May 16.

And new host Greigsy will be taking on the 10am-1pm slot, while mid-afternoons will be presented by Grant Thomson.

MFR said the changes allow the station to align with its sister stations on the Hits Radio Network in having a local weekday breakfast show followed by content from broadcasting hubs in Scotland.

Gary Stein, content director for the Hits Radio Network said, “We are committed to ensuring the future of radio in local markets and in a fast-changing audio landscape we must reimagine local radio to secure its future success. Along with these exciting new programmes, listeners will continue to have access to local news content, local information and traffic and travel that is important to them.”

Speaking about hosting the breakfast show, Jodie said “I started at MFR back in 2008 and have had a fantastic time presenting all my shows, including my current day time show.

"Our listeners are brilliant. However, it’s always been my dream to have my very own breakfast show, so I can’t believe that will become a reality on May 16. I can’t wait.”

Breakfast host Grace will continue to host her Saturday morning show on the station. Dan Gilchrist and Martin Morrison will sadly be departing the station in line with the changes.

On social media Dan and Grace thanked listeners.

They said: "We are sorry to announce this news but the last ever Dan & Grace will be May 13. Jodie will take over from the 16th.

"We are gutted but want to take this time to thank you for everything you’ve ever done for us. Every call, every text, every like on Facebook and every listener out there. You are the reason we get up in the morning and it’s been a pleasure."

Gary Stein added “I’d like to offer my sincere thanks and appreciation to Dan and Martin for their dedication, significant contribution and passion. We wish them the very best for the future.”
