The Scots Guards Association is aiming to revive its branch in the Highlands and Islands.

An invitation has been issued to Scots Guards amid efforts to reinvigorate its regimental association in the area.

The association has former and serving soldiers living in the area but activities and membership have dwindled recently.

Member Roderick Davidson and others are now hoping to reinvigorate the branch with social events and a dinner already being planned.

“The Scots Guards Association (SGA), a regiment with plenty of serving soldiers and veterans living locally, but with no great ties to Inverness, suffered from a lack of activity during the pandemic,” he said.

“It is now in the process of relivening the Highlands and Islands Branch of the SGA, covering the huge area stretching from the islands to Moray.”

Efforts are being made to contact previously-known members but they are also keen to hear from any others. Mr Davidson said plans for forthcoming activities include a possible fishing trip and clay pigeon shooting.

The association’s first annual dinner since 2019 is also due to be held on September 23 at a venue still to be announced.
