Children at Melvich Primary and ELC collected 93 boxes for the Blythswood Shoebox Appeal, which distributes the gifts and essentials around the world at Christmas.

Shoeboxes filled with items including shampoo, a pair of socks, a notepad, a small toy and a bag of sweets are delivered to vulnerable people in Ukraine, Albania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Kosovo, Moldova, Romania and Serbia.

Deputy head teacher at Melvich, Jane MacKintosh, said the children were delighted to welcome their friends from Melvich Care Home, who also donated to their appeal, to the school.
