Dingwall Mart's verdict after the sale: 'More could easily have been sold to the vendors' advantage. Ewes were also privy to a rise in values. All classes were sharper across the board and the best pure and heavier end were near non-existent again. Get amongst your ewes to benefit from these tremendous returns.'

DINGWALL and Highland Marts Ltd sold 500 prime sheep at its sale yesterday.

New season lambs (464) averaged 255.2p per kg and sold to 267.0p per kg for a pen of 43kg Suffolk crosses selling to J. M. Munro Ltd., Dingwall from Ord Farm, Invergordon and for a pen of 44.5kg Texel crosses also selling to J. M. Munro Ltd, from Easter Dalziel, Dalcross, and £126 gross for a 49kg Texel cross selling to Fraser Brothers Butchers, Dingwall from Ord Farm.

Feeding sheep (221) sold to £172 gross for a Suffolk cross ewe from Nuide Farm, Kingussie.

The verdict: “A small offering of lambs forward saw all classes following the national trend and being dearer on the week. All classes were in short supply and in particular the heavies. More could easily have been sold to the vendors' advantage. Ewes were also privy to a rise in values. All classes were sharper across the board and the best pure and heavier end were near non-existent again. Get amongst your ewes to benefit from these tremendous returns."
