The body of a 36-year-old man was found in Inverness yesterday morning.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death but it is not thought to be suspicious.

The discovery was made in the water of the Caledonian Canal and a Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of the sudden death of a 36-year-old man in the water in the Canal Road area of Inverness around 6.40am today.

“The man was recovered from the water with the aid of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service but was pronounced dead at the scene.

“There are no apparent suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
