Man dies after Far North road crash

AN elderly man has died following an accident on the A836 road, near Dunnet. The 73-year-old's car left the road south of the Caithness village.

Emergency services were contacted just before noon yesterday.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "The man was the driver of a Ford Fiesta car, which was the only vehicle involved. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his next of kin have been informed."

He added: "A full report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal in due course."
