POLICE are urging young and new drivers to fully check their driving instructor’s qualifications, after an investigation into unlicensed driving instructors resulted in an instructor in the Caithness and Sutherland area being reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

Police Constable Andy MacKay said: "It is essential that anyone learning to drive checks that their instructor is fully licensed.

“Receiving incorrect or outdated instruction at such a crucial stage in your driving career may be detrimental when it comes to your test day, but it can also be unhelpful for the rest of your driving career.

“Fully licensed instructors are up to date with the latest standards required by the Driving Standards Agency.”
