A SUTHERLAND post office is in line for a major refurbishment, it has been announced.

The Bonar Bridge Post Office, which was taken over by the Kyle of Sutherland Development Trust (KoSDT) in 2014, will undergo an extensive renovation this summer.

Bonar Bridge's post office service will be run temporarily from the Crannag Bistro.
Bonar Bridge's post office service will be run temporarily from the Crannag Bistro.

A post on the group's Facebook page states: "Behind the scenes we have been working hard to raise funding and to work with the postmaster, Post Office Ltd, and Royal Mail to ensure that the refurbishment, and the service, can proceed with as little disruption to the community as possible."

The post office will close from Tuesday, June 22, to enable the work to be undertaken. However, a temporary service will open in the Crannag Bistro on Friday, June 25.

The post office service will continue to operate out of the Crannag until the refurbished premises reopens in November.
