Final boarding call for Run the Runway at Inverness Airport for Maggie's Highlands
A Highland charity is offering passengers a final chance to run along an aeroplane runway as part of a fundraiser.
Maggie's Highlands will open up the air-side at Inverness Airport on August 26 at night in a bid to raise funds for its mission to help those in need of help dealing with cancer.
Run the Runway is a unique fundraising event for the cancer support charity that gives people the opportunity to take part in a 5km walk or run of Inverness Airport’s main runway at midnight, guided only by the runway lighting.
The fun starts from 10pm with fantastic entertainment in the departure lounge including party games, a DJ, and lots more.
Fancy dress is encouraged, and each participant will receive a Maggie’s t-shirt and a unique Run the Runway medal.
Over the last five years the Run the Runway event has been a huge success raising £175,000 for Maggie’s Highlands Centre.
Organisers hope that this year’s event will be the biggest yet, allowing anyone who has thought about taking part in the event before and has yet to do so, or anyone who would like to do it again for one final time, the chance to take part.
Every penny raised will help Maggie’s Highlands provide practical, emotional and psychological support to people across the Highlands affected by a cancer, as well as their family and friends.
Maggie’s Highlands Centre has been supporting people in local communities for 18 years this year and relies almost entirely on voluntary donations to be able to offer this high quality, professional support.
Andrew Benjamin, centre fundraising manager at Maggie’s Highlands, said: “Run the Runway has been a phenomenal success over the past five years and has been one of our biggest fundraising events which is critical to Maggie's Highlands and the support we can offer to people living with cancer across the Highlands. "Although we are sad to be bringing the curtain down on this fantastic and fun event, we are excited to put on one last super night.
"We encourage anyone who has never experienced this event to sign up as they won't get the chance again and people who have taken part down the years who would like to come and support us again.
"This is going to be a night not to be missed and won’t be forgotten."
