Sutherland Open Sheepdog Trials were held at Clynelish Farm, Brora, last Saturday with judge Alan Maclean keeping a careful eye on competitions.

Victoria Ballantyne, of Clynelish Farm, said: "It was a miserable start to the day, making it difficult for the county competitors who were the first to run.

"The Clynelish Farm sheep provided a challenge for the dogs, as always. Both the sheep and weather improved as the day progressed and it turned into a lovely afternoon."

A special presentation was made to Sheila Cormack and Kirsteen Simpson-Thorburn who stepped in last year to help with the running of the trials after a number of management committee members fell ill with Covid.

Sheila also generously volunteered her time again this year to act as judge's assistant.

The trials are run by Sutherland Sheepdog Trials Association and are part of the north circuit which also includes trials at Mey and Watten.
