A popular Inverness hotel has said it is closing until March.

Culloden House Hotel has said customers uncertainty about travel has led to 95 per cent of bookings being cancelled, and it has decided to temporarily close.

In a Facebook post, it said: "Nothing makes us happier than welcoming guests to this magnificent house but we write today to advise everyone that Culloden House will close until 1st March 2021.

"The health and safety of everyone is our utmost concern and with increased restrictions throughout the country 95 per cent of our Winter bookings have cancelled due to the uncertainty of travelling."

It continued: "Even in a tier one area we face restrictions on services and facilities which make it difficult for us to deliver the exceptional experience that makes Culloden House so special to many of you.

"Whilst we know that many of you will be saddened, rest assured we will be here for you from 1st March onwards."

The post assured customers that any bookings would be rescheduled, and gift vouchers expiring soon would be honoured until June 30 2021.

It said: "We look forward to welcoming you from March 1 2021 onwards and would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your families a Merry Christmas and a good New Year."
