A DORNOCH group now has funding in place to proceed with an important town centre project after being awarded aid from the National Lottery.
Dornoch Area Community Interest Company (DACIC) is receiving £65,000 from the National Lottery towards its scheme to turn the area’s redundant police station into a Community, Creative and Business Hub.
DACIC chairwoman Joan Bishop said: “We are delighted to have been awarded this funding which provides the last ‘brick in the wall’ capital funding to allow us to start refurbishment work.
“The work is due to start this month and will be completed by the end of January.
“This will enable us to appoint a community activities co-ordinator to set up a youth club, after-school coding club, healthy eating and cookery workshops, and dementia friendly art and craft sessions – thus ensuring the community benefits from the new facilities at the Dornoch Hub from day one”
National Lottery chairwoman Kate Still said: “I would like to congratulate DACIC on the award. Theirs is an important project and will support people now and in the future when they can physically come back together to make great things happen in their community.”
