A sand sculpture contest at Clachtoll beach earlier this month attracted a "fantastic"turnout, Andy Summers, the senior countryside ranger for north Highlands, has said.
"There were more than 200 people on our small beach and over 52 entries," he said. "We had everything from dolphins and mermaids to minions, giant squid and an ancient Egypt scene with pyramids and a sphinx."
The Mackenzie family, who live locally, won the family section with a wonderful hippo, while the Redwell family came second with a turtle.
The under-seven section was won by Harry Taylor with a beautiful jellyfish while a giant squid gained a first in the adult section for its creator.
