A group of anglers caught more than they bargained for off the Sutherland coast.

Lochinver RNLI lifeboat, “Julian and Margaret Leonard”, was tasked by Stornoway Coastguard to go to the aid of a leisure boat with a fouled propeller yesterday.

The volunteer crew were paged at 5.45pm and the lifeboat launched shortly after.

The stricken vessel, with several people on board, caught a rope in their propeller while out on a fishing trip, just north of Clachtoll’s Split Rock.

The lifeboat arrived on scene just after 6pm and took the vessel under tow.

On arrival back in Lochinver, the broken down boat was placed back alongside its pontoon berth, with help from the harbour staff.
