A fishing boat sparked an alert after suffering engine problems in heavy seas off Lochinver yesterday.

Lochinver Lifeboat was launched at 12.35pm on Saturday, but the fishing vessel managed to rectify their problems sufficiently before it arrived.

The lifeboat escorted the fisher back to port as a precaution.

A post on the Lochinver RNLI social media page states: “The Lochinver lifeboat crew were paged at 12:35pm due to a fishing vessel losing power shortly after leaving the harbour.

“The Lochinver lifeboat reached the vessel just minutes after launching and were preparing to pass a tow line when the vessel thankfully managed to restart its engine.

“The lifeboat escorted the vessel back into the harbour in case they encountered any further issues.

“Once the vessel was safely tied up along side the harbour the lifeboat returned to its berth and was made ready for service.”
