Nessie has been spotted on holiday in an Invergordon pothole.

Invergordon local, Annick Cornu, took the photo of the rather large pothole in Kilmuir Place, and edited the Loch Ness Monster in using photo editing app Lumii.

The picture has gained lots of attention on social media, bringing a light-hearted angle to a persistent issue for Highlanders across the region.

Annick said: “I think the potholes are terrible. As a driver, I try to avoid them because they can cause serious damage, but they are also very dangerous for elderly or disabled people. They are especially bad in the housing estates, and the patch repairs are just a sticking plaster – some roads need a totally new surface.

“With Invergordon being part of the green freeport, I hope they will invest in the roads as the current ones are not suitable for our heavy traffic, which is likely to get even bigger. Having decent roads would also improve the image of Invergordon for the locals and the tourists who arrive by the thousands on cruise ships.”
