EU citizens and their families are being urged by Highland Council to join a series of free online information sessions.

Organised by the Citizens’ Rights Project, the sessions will focus on EU settlement scheme applications linked to Brexit.

Councillor Jimmy Gray, who is the council’s European spokesman, said: “If you are an EU citizen or a non-EU family member of an EU citizen, the EU settlement scheme allows you and your family members to get the immigration status you will need to continue to live, work and study in the UK.

“I would encourage those of you within the Highland region, who have not already applied to the EU settlement scheme to do so and to take advantage of these live information sessions or the multilingual online service for people that require assistance with their application.

“We want to help people as much as possible and I’m sure anyone taking part will find the sessions very useful.”

Support includes live Facebook information sessions in the form of a presentation followed by questions and answers.

The sessions are provided in several languages and are planned to take place on a Wednesday.

Next up is Romanian next Wednesday (May 20) then Greek on May 26 and Spanish on June 2.
