Little Assynt Tree Nursery marked its 10th anniversary last Friday, October 28.

The tree nursery was set up 10 years ago as part of the Coigach and Assynt Living Landscape Partnership (CALLP) to provide local provenance trees for woodland projects in the surrounding area.

The tree nursery at Little Assynt has grown more than 300,000 trees in the last decade.

Members of Assynt Field Club paid a visit to the nursery on its milestone day.

A club spokesman said: "A quick chat with Nick Clooney, the nursery manager, provided us with an amazing statistic.

"Over the past decade, the nursery has grown more than 300,000 native trees including oak, birch, rowan, hazel, Scots pine, juniper, dwarf birch, holly and wych elm. All grown from local stock.

"The two polytunnels at the nursery are home to trays and trays of seedlings.

"It was good to catch up with former employees of CALLP and a few staff and volunteers from the Scottish Wildlife Trust - a funding partner of the nursery and of Assynt Field Club."
