THERE have been no newly confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Highlands for the past three days – the Scottish Government has revealed after correcting the daily figures.

The overall total number of positive tests in the region stood at 338 today – down on yesterday's figure of 339 after one case was reattributed to a neighbouring health board after wrongly being assigned to NHS Highland yesterday.

It means the last rise in the overall figure was Monday, when it increased by one to 337.

In other good news, the number of hospitalised patients with confirmed Covid-19 fell slightly – down one to eight.

The figures came against a backdrop of 49 new positive tests around Scotland as a whole, and nine deaths among those with confirmed diagnoses. The last time the daily death toll was in single figures was in March.

The number of people being treated in hospital having tested positive fell from 706 to 658, and the intensive care patient total dropped by two to 18.

Nationally, there have now been 15,553 positive tests in Scotland since the start of the outbreak, and 2395 of those have died.

In the north, there have been no freshly confirmed cases of the virus in Orkney, Shetland or Eileanan Siar.

NHS Grampian reported one newly-confirmed case, rising to 1283. It patient number also rose slightly - increasing by two to 66.

And NHS Tayside has recorded no positive tests since yesterday. Its number of confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic stayed at 1671. Eight of those were receiving hospital treatment last night (down from nine).
