Dornoch Pipe Band's last parade of the 2023 season takes place in the town square on Saturday, September 9, from 8pm.

The parade is a popular weekly attraction during the summer season, particularly for visitors, and is also a significant fundraiser for the band. The last parade is marked by by a lone piper playing on the battlement of Dornoch Castle Hotel.

Band secretary and treasurer Scott Lyon said: "We have had good crowds most weeks, but lost four weeks because of rain.

"It is a good fundraiser for us. Without the generosity of the public we would struggle. It is expensive to run a pipe band with the price of kilts, jackets and equipment."

Another fixture on the band's calendar is Dornoch Highland Games.

The band has a good core of pipers but could do with more drummers, Weekly practices are held in Invergordon.

Thoughts are now turning towards the band's centenary in 2026. It is hoped to mark the milestone by producing a CD which could then be sold on parade nights.
