The centenary of the dedication of Lairg War Memorial is to be marked at a ceremony tomorrow.

Lairg and District Community Initiatives (LDCI) has linked with local schools, churches and other village groups to coordinate the commemoration.

Also involved is Deputy Lieutenant Sheila Stewart of Sutherland’s Lord Lieutenancy team and the local branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland.

The railings of the war memorial are to be covered in handmade poppies - a call went out to knitters, felters and crocheters earlier in the year.

A service will take place from 11am and the ceremony is expected to last around an hour in total.

Wreaths will be laid and there are also plans to lay commemorative crosses for each of those named on the war memorial.
