Lairg Gala Week's Christmas party for the over 60s went with a swing. The community centre was warm and welcoming with a twinkling Christmas tree on the stage and stunning wall and table decorations.

More than 25 local residents attended the event last Saturday - a lower number than in previous years due to the coronavirus pandemic.

They enjoyed light refreshments and traditional games including musical chairs, pass the parcel and pass the orange.

Bubbles the Clown and Santa Claus and his glamorous attendants, made an appearance

A Gala Week spokesman said: "The party was excellent considering the low numbers, which was understandable given the current situation."

Santa will make another visit to the village from 6pm-8pm tomorrow on the Light Up Lairg sleigh.
