The Lairg Hill North Country Cheviot show made a welcome return on Saturday, and was well attended by competitors and spectators.

There were a total of 146 sheep forward, with classes for ‘trimmed’ or ‘natural’ entries. The judge was Robert Rennie, who made the long journey from his farm in Attonburn, Yetholm.

After much deliberation, his champion was a trimmed shearling from Martin Cook, Dorrery. He was sired by a homebred Dorrery tup, which sold to Whitehope last year for £5000.

The reserve champion title went to trimmed gimmer, out of a Millhouse ewe and by a Langdale tup, from Michael Kirk, Hollandmake.

Reserve Female was the trimmed Ewe from Inkstack and Reserve Male was the trimmed 2 shear from Badanloch.
