IT was beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Lairg last Saturday as the village staged its fourth annual Winterfest.

There was Santa in his grotto, reindeer from the Cairngorm herd and Jenny's donkeys, plus two puppet shows, a magic show and a funfair.

More than 50 crafters and stall holders set up shop and Bonar Bridge Ardgay football club ran fun activities in the school gym.

The event, which was organised by Lairg and District Community Initiatives (LDCI), attracted more than 1000 people.

LDCI chairman Steven Maclean said: "Everyone had a blast and we couldn't be more delighted at how it all went. Thanks go to the massive team of volunteers without whose hard work through the year the Winterfest would never take place."

Mr Maclean also thanked the generosity of local businesses that sponsored the event.
